Upgrading or changing your plan

Changing plans on Blacksands is designed to be self-serve for every tier except Enterprise. This article covers how upgrades work and what to expect.

Free requires no payment

If you're on Free, there's nothing to manage on the billing side — no card is required to sign up for or remain on Free, and there's no billing cycle to think about. You can stay on Free indefinitely, or move to a paid tier whenever your usage (see Understanding your plan limits) calls for it.

Pro, Team, and Business are self-serve via Stripe Checkout

Upgrading to Pro, Team, or Business — or moving between those three tiers — is handled through Stripe Checkout, Stripe's hosted payment flow. From your organization's plan settings, select the tier you want and you'll be taken to Stripe's checkout page to enter payment details. Blacksands does not handle or store your card details directly; that's Stripe's job, which is also why the checkout experience will look and feel like Stripe rather than a custom Blacksands form.

The upgrade takes effect on successful payment — as soon as Stripe confirms the charge, your organization's plan limits update immediately. There's no separate provisioning delay or manual step on Blacksands' side once payment clears.

Downgrading

Moving to a lower self-serve tier is also handled through the same plan settings flow. Keep in mind that if your organization's current usage (apps or MCP clients in use) exceeds the limits of the tier you're downgrading to, you may need to reduce usage first — check Understanding your plan limits before downgrading to avoid disruption.

Enterprise is sales-assisted

Enterprise is not a self-serve Stripe Checkout tier. If your organization needs Enterprise-level capacity, custom SLAs, or a deployment model outside the standard self-serve tiers, contact our sales team rather than looking for an in-console upgrade button — Enterprise agreements are set up directly with our team to match your organization's specific requirements.

Questions about billing

If a charge looks wrong, a Stripe Checkout session fails unexpectedly, or you have any other billing question not covered here, see Contacting support.
